Rufus does the Dog Park!

So many of you have heard me talk about Rufus. Rufus is just a baby - still under a year old. He is a rescue and from what we see, we figure he is a greyhound, shepherd mix. He recently joined us for in kennel training for help with some dog aggression.

When we first met Rufus, he was terrified out of his mind. He didn't want anything to do with our trainers and would just back away from them, tail tucked and barking. We knew the issues were bigger than we originally thought. In addition to his fear, Rufus would lash out at other dogs, often times attacking the next best thing (at times, his owner's legs) just to relieve some of his frustration.

While in kennel, Rufus has had a rocky road full of ups and downs. I can proudly say, he is only 1 of 3 dogs in the history of Collared Scholar in kennel students that had to live with us for longer than 5 weeks. Rufus certainly challenged us. Just when we thought we had the aggression under control, something new would pop up forcing us to rethink our strategies. But if you know me, you know I don't quit until the job gets down and after his stay in doggy bootcamp, I can proudly say that Rufus went to the dog park yesterday and had a blast! After 6 weeks in kennel, Rufus made a full recovery. In addition to knowing all of his obedience, he is great with dogs on and off leash and can run and play with the best of them! It was an amazing moment to watch him spring into action, running and playing, chasing balls and having a great time at the dog park!

Great Job Rufus! Keep an eye out for his upcoming video! (P.S. Rufus is the tan dog in the photos!)
