Daycare April 14th
Wow guys! Its been a long time since we spoke but so much has happened! We were closed for daycare this last Saturday while everyone here at the Paw went to Woofstock... FUN! There was flyball, agility, ice cream bars for dogs, frisby demonstrations, tatoos for dogs, and the Collared-Scholar/ Metropawlitan Dog team, all melting together in the 95 degree sun :) I lasted about 20 minutes there (enough time to show off Rupert to prospective adopters) but kuuuddos to Vicky, Meagan, Katie, and Matt for sticking it out for the long haul. What a weekend!
Now its Monday and daycare is back in its full swing. Maddie and Rupert are enjoying their private party in the front room while the puppies in the lounge doze like they were old folk and the big kids in the "playground" run around like they were young again.
Among these, young at heart, is Jake. His breed and his picture should say all I need to say about him but that would be boring so let me elaborate. Jake is the second Weimaraner I've met and boy are they a distinguishable bunch. Its not just their gorgeous silver coat set against the widest, brightest eyes Ive ever seen... but they have a personality that is so outrageous it puts puggles to shame (must meet puggle to get this... totally insane!).
Here's Jakes day:
1. Have a heart attack (so many dogs, so many smells, so many dogs smelling my butt... AHH!)
2. Freak out (so many dogs, so many smells, so many dog butts for me to smell... YEAH!)
3. Play with new best friend, Argos (play bow, wrestle, jump and spin, repeat..) and
4. Get a sip of water
--Jakes idea of a sip of water goes as such...find water bucket, stick whole head inside it, then whip out of the bucket throwing the water in the air and maybe catching a few drops on their way back down... soooo funny!--
Number 3 and 4 continued to repeat with a lot of wild running and a few quick naps in between.. what a riot! and a superb addition to our club :)
Second mentionable pup for the day is the biggest Westie you've ever had the pleasure of meeting... Gus. In truth, he is only about 20 lbs, but try telling him that. In our numerous debates on the subject, I have only once actually gotten him close to admitting to being smaller than another dog... and it was Raisin... the Great Dane. Needless to say, Gus always plays in the big room. He is a very calm and collected lil guy with the occasional energy bursts where he goes racing around the playground (we call these the Zoomies and are very common in the smaller breeds... Gus calls them moments of weakness.) He is always proper, eating only the best foods and peeing in only the best spots, but achieves it without an ounce of snootiness. He is loving and sweet and is simply one of the greatest dogs you could come across... he just happens to know it:)
More Tomorrow!
