Daycare April 28th

So I met my first Ridgebacks today, Emma and Spencer. Let me first say, they are much bigger than they seem in the breed books, much taller... and that ridge, something I thought only came out during a time of excitement, is actually a permanent fixture, like a cowlick, all the way down their back. Very cool looking and very intimidating...but what a show! As it turns out, and I dont know if its just these guys or Ridgebacks in general, they are truthfully very sweet, playful, and loving dogs. How fun! I love expanding my knowledge of different breeds and Ridgebacks are surely a pleasure. Unfortunately I wasnt able to get a picture before they left, but wow they were beautiful!

Also back from a home visit today is Mr. Bynx (pictured). Bynxie is at the Paw these days for a very sad reason. His parents are getting a divorce and his mom is being forced to give him up. She has been able to visit with him a couple of days a week for the past few months but her time with him has come to an end. She has avoided and postponed this moment for as long as possible, trying to find him the best living situation but re-homing this treasure has proven to be harder than it looks. Although she would be more than willing to assist with the cost of caring for him, his mom has had no takers, by either a permanent or foster situation. Even the pit rescue wont take him (they dont accept owner relinquishments... not fair!).

Bynx is a 9 year old pit bull and deserves to spend the last long years of his life in a home. He is completely crate trained/ obedience trained, and would be a great companion for an adult household that can give him the love he needs. He wouldnt do well in a house with other male dogs but has lived for years with another female pit bull and has had no problems - so with the right female, he could be a fantastic big brother. He is also very people friendly. He loves to go on walks, lounge around, get pets, and eat treats... duh :) His mom has done all she can to find him a new home, advertising anywhere that dogs/ dog owners were known to go but his time is up. If he doesnt get help, he will have to be put down. We will all be devastated. Please... if you know anyone that would like to foster or even keep Mr. Bynx, call 619-233-1364 Anyone would be lucky to have him as a friend and family member.
