Meet Mister Mikey

Mikey is our newest rescue dog searching for a home, but it might take a while to find someone willing to adopt this little man. You see, Mikey is almost 14 years old, completely blind and mostly deaf. He is however, a total love bug and wants nothing more than a warm lap to snuggle in. Trainer Katie Earle has a soft spot for dachshunds (she has 3 of her own) so she decided to take in Mikey after several other local rescues turned him away, knowing he'd be difficult at best to find a new home for. Despite Mikey's problems that come with getting up there in age, he's a real trooper and LOVES to explore the backyard, lounge in the sun, and especially to steal bones from the other dogs to chew on! Mikey is on a diet, since he came in very overweight, but his overall health is good and Katie thinks he has at least a few more years of love left in him to give.
