Some VERY Exciting News!

Metropawlitan Dog and The Collared Scholar have merged to bring you the FIRST and ONLY daycare facility in San Diego run COMPLETELY by Dog Trainers!

You heard it here first – Metropawlitan Dog and The Collared Scholar have merged! With this merge, come some very exciting changes! First, The Collared Scholar is launching a dog training academy designed to apprentice and certify new dog trainers! We will be featuring some of the most comprehensive and advanced curriculum currently available and we plan to draw dog enthusiasts from far and wide.

In addition to the launch of our new academy, our daycare will now be completely staffed by academy students who have studied dog behavior and who know the ins and outs of dog social structure. Students will be supervised be a dog behavior expert resulting in a higher level of safety for all of our canine customers!

Interested in Dog Training? We will soon be offering the widest variety of group classes in San Diego! We will also be re-launching our daycare and training program, designed to give your pooch training while he or she is at daycare! Trainers will be on hand at all times to answer any questions you might have. We will also be featuring a full line of trainer recommended products designed to give your pooch nothing but the best.

In order to accommodate our new academy, we will have decided to discontinue Saturday Daycare as of June 14th, 2008. During the transition, we will be open Saturday from 8am to 10am and closed Sundays. We hope that this minor inconvenience is more than compensated for with the exciting new changes afoot at Metropawlitan Dog.

Please don’t hesitate to speak with a representative if you have any questions. We look forward to this new endeavor and we are excited to bring the benefits of this union to you, our loyal customers.

With warmest regards,

Meagan, Vicky, Katie, Zoe

Ok, so the picture above looks a little scary but hear me out. This little devil is Radar. Radar is terrified of the camera. Recently his mom asked why he hadn't received a blog and I immediately thought "Yeah! Why hasn't he?!" However, as soon as I attempted to get a mug shot of the little rascal, i realized why his story had been left untold while his sisters (Bella) had been raved over and over. He is impossible to catch! He not only runs if you try to get close, he hides if he even notices the camera pointing his general direction! The picture up top was taken before he really figured out what was happening and from the other side of the daycare window... maybe he felt safer with me and the camera out there.... maybe, in his head, the alien flash that fries the brains of innocent puppies isnt able to penetrate glass (hee hee). Whatever the case, Im glad I got it. I needed at least one full frontal shot where we could see the glory of Radars name sakes... his humongous ears :)

Radar is princess Bella's younger brother, and you can see how fond of him she is by how close she kept by during his photo shoot. Either that or she was trying to steal his thunder (the little ham that she is).. dont worry Bella, he doesn't want it! The only way I got these shots was by shooting a video of Radar and then moving through each frame until I found a shot that was in focus. Lots of work but totally worth it to get this one of the two siblings together (Bella - right, Radar - left) And as a side note, in almost every shot I had, you could see Bella in the background "playing" with one of the IGs (see past blogs for reference).

By now, daylight is starting to wind down and Radar is doing what all for his beloved mom. He'll spend a few seconds at the window, get pulled down by Bella into a wrestling match (Bella will win, as usual), pee on at least two of the four walls to make sure no one has forgotten who owns the lounge, and then return to the window to wait. Obviously he didnt know the camera was on him or "avoiding line of sight at all costs" the dogs are doing, waitingwould have definitely been thrown in there somewhere. None the less, I love him very much and without a camera in hand I find as many opportunities as possible to kiss his adorable face and pet his outrageous ears. He sister and he together absolutely make the top of my Awesome Daycare Duo list.

Daycare June 4th

Hey there everybody! I would like to introduce you today to two of my favorite doggy siblings! I am pleased to introduce little Lola (chi) and king Kenny (mini Amer. Eskimo). They are the most adorable couple ever! Lola is very shy and spends her time sorta tip-toeing around the daycare room, sniffing here, resting there, sipping water, checking out whos walking in the front door, etc. Her favorite place to snooze (probably because she is covered on most sides) is the corner of the lounge right below the web cam. When she decides to take a nap, Kenny is right by her side. His lot in life seems to be to protect his little sister at all costs. He practically snoozes right on top of her, using his tail to cover her like a blanket. And if you decide Lola is in need of a smooch and a squeeze, good luck catching her. As soon as your hands come down to grasp the little thing Kenny is there between the two of you asking "Can I help you!? Any business you have with her you can take up with me instead." And thats that :) It took a ton of persuading to get Kenny to OK that picture and believe me, he was at my feet the whole time. The situation they have worked out is unbelievably loving and truly touches the soul.
